Well, this has been an interesting time if there ever was one. My last column managed to stir the pot a bit and that's fine by me. Perhaps it needed it. Regardless, I managed to anger some of you and I managed to make the rest of you jump with glee. Now the we have settled into our new nest, it's time for me to start thinking of new ways to feed all of you. Do you want controversy? Do you want Thanks to pretend to be blind to what's really going on in our community? There's a lot of directions we can go from here. We could raise the bar of boob-webzines or would could lower it to the point of no return. I think the last issue managed to raise the bar and lower it in ways. We had some columns that were just too damn short. That's because I didn't use my recruiting skills to the best of my ability. While I want to print everything that anyone has to say, something needs to be said when an article is too short or makes no sense. So while I still invite everyone to write to us, I'm going to keep my eye out for articles that just really don't belong. Now that enough people take the time to read this webzine, it's important to make it WORTH reading. I want to add some credibility and depth to Thanks in addition to our already obvious hi-jinx. So anyway, on to my subject for this issue. And that is Halloween. Halloween is among my favorite holidays. It occurs in a time of the year when things seem to slow down for the entire planet. Trees shed their leaves, animals prepare for hibernation. And I prepare to be social again. I'm not a fan of summer at all. When it's hot, if you don't have air-conditioning, you suffer. All you can do is sit and sweat. In the winter, you may get cold, but you can always throw on more clothes and if you are sleepy, more blankets. There's nothing like that feeling of hearing the snow blowing around on a subzero day outside, while you are nestled in on the couch with a warm blanket and a football game to watch. Oh wait, I forgot.. only like 4% of you watch football. I should have remembered that. Any way, that time right before winter is awesome. Halloween and the entire fall season is the time when you don't have to worry about Christmas just yet and you also don't have to worry about mowing the lawn. :) Here are a few good things I think of when I think of Halloween: -Going to Six Flags for it's annual Fright Fest. Being a coaster nut, it's become a tradition for me. -It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. -The Indian Summer -The entire Halloween movie series... every year I bust out the whole series at Halloween. Michael Myers just never gets boring to me. -Being in an area with a lot of trees, watching the fall colors begin to take shape. -Breaking out the hooded sweatshirt again. -The sound of children laughing while trick-or-treating. -Getting in the strangest costumes humanly possible and going out to the bars only to find your costume isn't half as strange as the guy's next to you. -Those nasty tasting black and orange wrapped candies. -Driving around just to see all the cool decorations the other Halloween nuts in town have used on their lawns. -Working for and going to local Haunted Houses. -Going to the local mall just to look at all the new costumes and masks that have come out for the year. -Chilly drizzles. -Football season. -Chilly walks by myself, whether it be to go to work, or just to walk. Just taking in the air and the atmosphere. -Fun size candy bars. -Horror movies on TV, all the time. -Flannel shirts. As you can see, I'm pretty damn serious when it comes to Halloween. I hope some of you could relate to the few things that I mentioned. Halloween isn't about giving gifts or getting them. It's just a general fun time of the year. I love getting the pants scared off of me! I also love candy, pumpkins, and scary movies. Most people wind down when the fall season hits. I, on the other hand, am just coming out of mental hibernation. I'll be going strong straight through winter. And if this column pisses someone off, then I need to seriously reconsider writing at all. Have a fantastic Halloween, It's not just for kids ya know.
