"Whatever you want. You are the one with the magic ring right now," the woman replies, looking like she is enjoying the show. Jim does not know quite how to react to that, so he just shrugs it off. Just then, someone else comes into the store, another man. Jim scoops up the kitten and turns to the woman. "Maybe I had better do this someplace a little more private."
"Maybe so." That is her only reply, smiling to him as if he were so naive. Again, Jim is puzzled by her reaction to him. Welp, nothing he can do about others' impression of him. He has had enough of that to last a lifetime already.
"I'll just go, then. Uh, thanks for the ring," he mumbles as he rushes out the door, not waiting for an answer from him. He thinks he hears a giggle from her, but when he turns to look, she's no longer in sight. The other man can be seen looking around the store for someone to help him, causing Jim to pause just a little, letting the other people in the mall obscure his position a little. What he sees is as amazing as the former girl he now holds in his arms as a kitten. The woman really does appear out of thin air right behind the other man. Jim has to swallow hard to keep from losing it right there. He rushes out the nearest exit from the mall, looking around for some place that might hold even a little bit of privacy.
He finds it around a corner wall 'hiding' the shipping docks. He's able to duck between a parked trailer and the wall, and have all the privacy and space he needs.
He puts the kitten on the ground as he formulates his next command and she just begins to purr and rub against his legs. 'Hmmm, maybe this will work in my favor...' he thinks, rubbing the ring as he touches the kitten and says:
